Extracorporeal shock waves are an effective and consolidated treatment for treating tendon conditions, whether calcifying or not, which have become chronic and do not respond to other treatments (pharmacological, physiotherapeutic or with infiltrations).
The treatment has many advantages, since it does not require any previous preparation and more than 90% of good results are obtained in calcifying tendinopathies and between 80 and 85% in chronicles without calcium deposit. They produce a symptomatic relief at the end of the treatment, which is carried out in a very short time and does not require any special recovery after it. It is a non-pharmacological option, thus avoiding the use of anti-inflammatories and analgesics. It also avoids the deterioration of microfibrillary structures and intratendinous ruptures.
This treatment is also used for plantar fasciitis, tennis elbow or golfer’s elbow and to improve chronic pain.
