Arthrosis clinic in Madrid Centre

Arthrosis, also known as osteoarthrosis or osteoarthritis, is a degenerative joint disease that affects both the cartilage and the bone, as well as the soft tissues of the joint. It is part of the degenerative rheumatic diseases and, within this category, is a form of arthritis. In Spain, it affects more than 15% of the population, with a higher percentage in women than in men.

The disease is usually located in the hips, knees, hands, feet and spine (the first three being the most common). It causes pain and affects the mobility and autonomy of people. It can also be linked to other problems such as hypertension or cardiovascular disease (among others) and the symptoms are gradual and dilated over time.

Arthrosis is not a hereditary disease (with the exception of hand arthrosis, because it is autosomal dominant), but it is a genetic risk component that, together with other factors, can result in its appearance.

In Clínica DKF we talk about personalized medicine and treatments, in such a way that the therapies that we apply have to be oriented to homogeneous groups of patients or with the same features. Therefore, we can distinguish between different groups such as patients with arthrosis with prevalent genetic factor, patients with degenerative or senile arthrosis, athlete’s arthrosis or postmenopausal arthrosis as their treatment is not the same.

At DKF we emphasize the following treatments:

  • Hyaluronic Acid
  • Growth factors
  • Orthokine
  • Stem cells
  • Genetic test for knee arthrosis
